Tinggi Island is known for its mystical quality as much its sheer physical beauty. In one of the village, the story goes, is a rock shaped like a baby. At full moon, the stone is said to cry like a baby. According to folklore, some youths threw this Batu Menangis ( Stone That Cries ) into the sea but it returned to its original place.
The locals also believe Hang Tuah, the legendary Malaccan warrior, made stop here and hence his spirit guards the island. Besides, other tales of the unexpected, the island offers a range of sea sports as well as comfortable accomodation. |
